Barberyn Beach Ayurveda Resort
The inauguration and seminar/workshop sessions will be held at Barberyn Beach Ayurveda Resort.
This second property developed by the pioneers of the resort concept
of Ayurveda is located on a dramatic location in the coastal town
of Weligama in the southern tip of Sri Lanka. This serene resort is
built partly on stilts to preserve the vegetation and has been landscaped
to be one with nature. Barberyn Resorts stand in testimony to the
true spirit of the authentic Ayurveda way of life, including yoga
and meditation. Guests enjoy practicing yoga and meditation in special
areas on the roof top and in the grounds overlooking the ocean.
Ayurveda treatment can be obtained as an extra service during the congress.
Kataragama Jungle Shrine and Kirivehera site.
Kataragama is a village in the deep south of Sri Lanka, which is revered by the Sri Lankan people
For the jungle shrine of God Skanda, and the beautiful “Kirivehera” Pagoda (“Dagaba”) which holds some relics of the Buddha.
The jungle shrine adjoins a river where pilgrims dressed in clean clothes go to the shrine of God Skanda with offerings of fruits and flowers. The offerings are at times to thanks the gods for “special favours”-
(For example a family member is seriously ill and a vow is made that once the person recovers the family will visit the shrine) or it is simply to invoke the blessings of gods.
Before or after the offerings (referred to as “Pooja”) pilgrims also go by foot to the dagoba "Kirivehera” to offer flowers, incense and prayer and meditate in the beautiful surrounds.
Price of the Congress
Price: The Yoga congress is supported by Barberyn Ayurveda Resorts and the price for the congress program is kept at a minimum. The total congress price includes the cost of full board accommodation at Barberyn Beach and Kataragama and participation in Yoga congress. The price varies , depending on the room category you select at Barberyn Beach.
